The fundamentals
What hypnotherapy is — and is not
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, supportive process that guides you into a state of calm, focused relaxation — one you naturally drift into many times a day without realising it. Think of the way you become absorbed in a good book, or how a familiar drive can pass in a pleasant blur. That absorbed, relaxed state is close to what hypnotherapy works with.
In that state, your mind is more open to supportive suggestions aligned with the changes you genuinely want to make. Tracy's role is to guide the process with care, helping you engage with new patterns of thought and feeling in a way that feels natural and unforced. Every session is collaborative, supportive and entirely at your pace.

What hypnotherapy is not is equally important. It is not stage entertainment, mind control, or anything that takes over your will. You remain fully aware, fully in control, and able to stop at any moment. You will not reveal anything you wish to keep private, and you cannot be made to do or say anything you do not want to. The relaxed state itself is calm and pleasant, and many people look forward to it as a rare moment of true stillness.
It is also not a replacement for medical or psychological care. Tracy does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. Hypnotherapy is a complementary approach, designed to sit alongside whatever care you may already be receiving from your doctor or mental health professional — never to take its place.
The evidence
What the research suggests
Over recent decades, hypnotherapy has attracted growing interest from researchers exploring how the mind and body interact. Studies have looked at how the relaxed, focused state used in hypnotherapy may support people dealing with anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties, certain habit patterns, and the experience of ongoing pain or gut discomfort. The findings are encouraging enough that hypnotherapy is increasingly discussed as a complementary approach worth considering.
It is important to be clear about what research can and cannot tell us. Individual studies vary in quality, and results differ from person to person — no approach works for everyone, and hypnotherapy is no exception. The evidence suggests that many people find it genuinely helpful, but it does not promise a specific outcome for any one individual. Tracy never claims to treat, cure or heal any condition, and she encourages every client to maintain their relationship with their GP.
What the research does consistently highlight is the importance of the relationship between practitioner and client. The sense of feeling safe, heard and respected appears to be a significant part of why people benefit. That is exactly what Tracy prioritises in every session — a calm, genuinely supportive space where you set the pace.

The 6-session program & pricing
Every service Tracy offers follows the same calm, considered structure: a free 60-minute consultation first, then six live, one-to-one sessions tailored to your progress. The consultation is a relaxed conversation with no hypnosis and no pressure — simply a chance to understand what you would like to change and whether this work feels right for you.
If you choose to continue, the six sessions build gently on one another. Each one is shaped around where you are that week, giving you time to absorb and practise what you are learning. All sessions are live and personal — there are no audio recordings — and you can meet in person at the Liverpool practice or online across Merseyside and beyond.
The six-session program is £600, presented as the recommended path because it gives the work the best chance to take hold. Individual sessions are £150 if you prefer to proceed that way. Payment is by cash or bank transfer, stated plainly and with no hidden costs. Your free consultation is always free, with no obligation to continue.
You can read the full breakdown — including what is included, payment methods, and a detailed pricing FAQ — on the pricing page.

How to choose a qualified hypnotherapist in Liverpool
Choosing a hypnotherapist is a personal decision, and it matters. Here is what Tracy suggests looking for — and how her own training and standards measure up.
Structured professional training
Look for a practitioner who has completed a recognised, structured training program rather than a short weekend course. Proper training means the practitioner understands how to guide the process safely, adapt to each person, and work within clear professional boundaries. Tracy completed her training through Mindlayers, a structured program that covers both the theory and the practical craft of hypnotherapy in depth.
Assessed practical competence
Training should not be theoretical alone. A well-prepared practitioner has been assessed on their practical ability — not just what they know, but how they work with a real person in the room. Mindlayers training includes assessed practice, meaning Tracy's competence has been evaluated, not simply assumed. When you are choosing a hypnotherapist, it is reasonable to ask how their practical skills were assessed.
A clear ethical code
A trustworthy practitioner works to a clear ethical framework — one that protects your confidentiality, your autonomy, and your right to stop at any time. Tracy adheres to the Mindlayers ethical code, which sets out clear standards of conduct, confidentiality and client welfare. You should never feel pressured, and you should always feel that your wellbeing comes first.
Ongoing standards and development
The best practitioners treat their work as an ongoing practice, not a one-time qualification. Mindlayers certification reflects a commitment to maintaining standards over time, staying current and holding the work to a consistent level of quality. When choosing a hypnotherapist in Liverpool, look for someone whose commitment to their craft did not end on the day they qualified.
Tracy Maria Vose is a Mindlayers certified hypnotherapist. Mindlayers certification reflects structured training, assessed practical competence, a clear ethical code and ongoing standards — the qualities worth looking for in any practitioner you are considering.
